Shiree
McCarver has always been a dreamer of the possibilities of being in
love, but somewhat found her reality lacking the romance she always
dreamt about. She decided to bring fantasies to life by
creating stories of unconditional love with characters that are in
it for the long haul no matter what or who hinders the
process. It's this process that has her being the first author
to write an Elizabethan romance featuring and African woman in an
interracial relationship with an English royal. She is also
the first author to pen a story about an aging African American
woman and a younger Japanese Pop star in modern day Japan.
Alabama
native Shiree McCarver is building a following for her Asian Heroes
and her ability to go where no one has dared to go before in books
featuring characters in an interracial relationship. Being an
avid reader of romances Ms. McCarver decided to write the type of
books she felt were missing from the genre. Ms
McCarver has written beautiful heart touching tales of love and she
makes it work in the most seemingly impossible character
pairing. No matter who
you are you will be able to relate to the only thing that matters in
a true romantic read; the developing love story between the
characters.
When
asked to explain—or as some might say...apologize—about her writing
style, she laughingly replied...
"I
am a chatty writer. I write stories for those who like long dialog
between characters who spend more time together than apart.
You know...Like real lovers, you learn more about each other by
conversation and experiencing things together. You bring out
the best and the worst in each other."
"I
know there are readers who don't like a lot of wordage or dialog, so
frankly, I'm not writing for them. They already have a lot to
choose from. I'm writing for the readers that are out there
searching for the style I write and stories I have to tell.
I'm looking for the people that like to read outside the
box."
Ms.
McCarver's books are as blunt and in your face about issues as she
is about the audience she's reaching out to. Her stories evoke
questions we dare not ask and take us to places we dare not go; that
is, unless you're one to read outside the box society has placed you
in.
